Introduction

In the beginning of his career, his research work on the Nawabs of Awadh (In 3 Volumes) was highly acclaimed by the well-known historians of the Country. Out of these three volumes, University of Lucknow awarded him Ph.D and D.Litt. Degrees on two of them and Agra University awarded him D.Litt. Degree on his third work.

At the fag end of his life, he published three volumes on Mughal Emperor, Akbar. University of Lucknow awarded him Banerjee Research Award for his research work on medieval Indian history and the Asiatic Society awarded him Sir Jadunath Sarkar Gold Medal.

He edited research journals and contributed articles on Indian history in various encyclopaedias, like Encyclopaedia Britannica, Bengali and Marathi encyclopaedia.

  • Chief Editor of, Uttara Bharati Journal of Research of the Universities of Uttar Pradesh.  This Research Journal was earlier being published by University of Lucknow.  The Uttar Pradesh government provided grants for publication of this Journal. Later on when he became its chief editor, then, Agra University began publishing it from Agra.
